Volunteer

The Medical Outreach program recruits volunteers and provides them with an opportunity to gain first-hand observance of physicians and medical practitioners working in a clinical environment. This is an intensive internship, valuable to future nurses, physicians, public health majors, and anyone interested in seeing what working in the medical field is like. The internship is focused on giving interns (a.k.a. volunteers) a variety of experiences in treating patients and deepening their understanding of the medical field.

Schedule

Below is a sample itinerary of the trip with 6 clinic days. (15 nights, 14 days)
  • Day 1 - Fly to the host country
  • Day 2 - Rest and prepare for the clinics
  • Day 3 - Clinic
  • Day 4 - Clinic
  • Day 5 - Clinic
  • Day 6 - Clinic
  • Day 7 - Clinic
  • Day 8 - Day off
  • Day 9 - Day off
  • Day 10 - Clinic
  • Day 11 - Day to teach public health classes
  • Days12 -14 - Free Days for fun travel
  • Day 14 or 15 - Fly back to U.S.

Costs

Program fees cover all housing, food, medical and non-medical staff, translator, and in country transportation. Interns pay for their plane tickets, spending money, and fun travel.
